Excerpts (see news article cited directly above):

  • John Richard Fredriksson, 65, entered his plea in Contra Costa Superior Court because his crimes against a female relative occurred in unincorporated Walnut Creek.
  • Fredriksson, also a former San Francisco police officer, was charged with more offenses over a wider span of time, but his plea covers two counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14, between 1988 and 1990.
  • Fredriksson worked for the Alameda County agency for more than 20 years, including the period when the molestation occurred. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Judge Clare Maier but will be credited with serving 50 percent of that because of pre-1994 policies, along with 165 days he has spent in jail since his June arrest.
  • Fredriksson's son, a Danville resident, resigned from San Leandro police in July after he was accused of giving more than a pound of marijuana to a female informant with whom he was having an extramarital affair.

  • This convicted sex offender will likely collect his pension while he is serving time in prison.
  • Thus, upon release from prison, this convicted sex offender will likely have many years of pension payments accumulated in a bank account, which is effectively a prison release cash bonanza.
  • Moreover, upon release from prison, this convicted sex offender will likely continue to receive his pension.
